Knowing what exactly is personalized postcard printing is extremely important before you jump to the bandwagon of doing postcard printing and use it as marketing tool. The truth is, there are 4 major aspects for printing postcards and these are size, paper stock, design file formats as well as coatings. Each aspect has its important role to function to guarantee that you are getting the highest quality ever.
The size of postcard does not necessarily indicate that there will be just a standard size to fit all postcard sizes. It’s because of the fact that there are varying sizes that need a different piece of printing equipment. You might not believe it but just a minute modification on the size of your postcard is enough to have a change of pricing. To avoid being surprised by the cost of printing postcard, it is smart to get quotations before you print it out. Through this, you’ll have an idea on how much the postcards will cost you.
Matte and glossy finish are the two types of finishes that you can go for in your paper stock. If you want your personalized postcard be printed in full color, then you have to go between CS2 and C1S stock.
In a CS2 Stock, it has a gloss finish on both sides while C1S stock has one size that is glossy while the other part has a matte finish. Between these stocks, it is the C1S that was mostly used since the ink in postcard printing doesn’t dry up on the gloss part of the paper stock and for that, they lead in printing on matte side of stock.
Asking for the file format being accepted by the printing company is something you should not disregard when talking about design file formats. Even though there are printing companies that accept various file formats, still some use limited formats and software programs for the creation of design. The procedure that these companies do is take the personalized postcard design file, convert it to the format they run and print it.
Finishing is equally important as the first two steps for doing postcard printing. There are two kinds of postcard coating or finishing and these are aqueous coating and UV coating. The latter option will provide you with a shiny feel and look on your postcard.
On the other hand, with Aqueous coating, it provides minimal shine or gloss and entails quick printing process for postcard. The reason for this is that, Aqueous coating is drying fast and with that, it doesn’t hinder continuous printing process.
