Ok, so its fair to say there are a butt-load of candidates. We have some information on some, and nothing on others. Some of you last minute filers I don’t even have you’re names up here yet. Soooooo if you are a candidate and would like your information listed on this website please email it to [email protected]. This also goes for candidates that have dinners/handgames/concerts/planned public appearances of all descriptions. We don’t have the time to track each and everyone of you down but we will post your campaign updates, notes to the nation, personal website info etc. verbatim if you send it to us. We want all voting Osages to be able to gleen through all candidates information. So if you don’t see your information on here, don’t go pouting to your momma, just send me something over these internets and we will get you taken care of.

We will also give each candidate as well as constituents that want it, authorization/name set up/password information so you can author your own posts instead of always having to respond to crap that Ryan Red Corn puts up here. However, we do have a few rules to live by on here.

1. We want this site to be about solutions and ideas. If you want to whine and cry around about so and so this and uncle blah blah did that, that’s fine but you better follow it up with a way to fix the problem. Rampant whining around is not going to be tolerated. If you don’t have any suggestions about how to fix problems/solutions then I would suggest not posting at all. We want to hear how you would carry out reform, or how you would build upon the successes of the Nation, or how you would do such and such differently. Remember Ideas…. Solutions. So far, so good, everyone is doing an excellent job.

2. If you are going request a name to author your own posts, please request from your real name. I don’t want a flurry of piss and vinegar anonymous postings about how much you hate Mr. so and so. Of course if you give us a fake name we won’t really know anyway, so we are putting our trust in those that make that request. For the record there about 50 or 60 people signed up to post right now but only a very small handful of us are obviously active.

I am not intending nor did I ever intend for this website to be a one man show. It’s for all Osages concerned about the general election and the general well-being of the Nation.

If either of those two things don’t jive with how you would like to see it done, may I suggest starting your own website, or just send us suggestions about how we can do this better. We are not perfect and will always need room for improvement. We are all ears.

I read that John Maker is running for Congress. I wanted to let you know cause I did not see him on here.

  2. Jodie says:

Would it be possible to list all the canidates and their phone numbers? I would like to contact each canidate and have a one-on-one interview with my specific questions. I really enjoy the website, keep up the good work!

  3. Cathy Lynn says:

I believe that you initially put forward that this web site would have an accurate listing of all of the candidates in the running for the General Election. If you don’t have time to do your homework to keep it up to date, perhaps you should consider shutting it down until you do lest you become legally liable for any harm done to candidates that have not been listed in a timely manner and feel they have a legitimate cause for action against you. For a start, posting voting polls before all of the candidates had filed for office by the end of day on April 1 is legally questionable at best. Now don’t go crying to your daddy. Just get it done or take it down.

  4. Morgan says:

Wow, Cathy the voting polls are just for fun as stated over and over. This website is not for complaining its to ask the canidites questions and so forth. All I have seen you do is complain. Nothing gets done with that. And telling Ryan what he needs to do I am sure he is very capable of running this website. If you dont like it go make your own or start acting civil. The rest of us that comment do. Thank you Have a nice day!

  5. Cathy Lynn says:

Morgan, this is a get down serious election. Depending on how things go in the next six months to a year, the Osage Nation could be facing termination as a Federally Recognized Tribe. There is no room for the vapid, the shallow or the faint of heart. We are facing a lot of dreadful potential negative consequences here as a result of the actions of the last administration. We need candidates and those that are following this election to take it as seriously as it deserves to be taken. This ain’t no disco, this AIN”T no foolin’ around. If you think it’s as to the otherwise, maybe you should be the one to punk off and partay elsewhere.

  6. Cathy Lynn says:

I don’t see anything about just for fun on this web page https://votingosage.org/pageid12

  7. Morgan says:

You dont think I know that this is a serious election? That is why we need to elect new Congress Members, Members that want to see the Osage strive to be the best and get things done without arguing and pouting. Granted there were a few Congress Members that were trying to, but others were just doing it in spite of Chief Gray. We need to elect Congress Members to get things done and that will work with Chief Gray to make the Osage Nation better. We need Members in there to have the Osages’s best intrest. That is why we need to elect Chief Gray back into office cause he has done a GREAT job and has done wonders for the Tribe.

  8. Cathy Lynn says:

    I see.

  9. clay mccormick says:

To Cathy Lynn Congress has been trying to disestablish tribal soverenty since the 1870’s or before this is not new,and to fold up and be nice indians is the quickest way to loose it. We we must be smart, we must be strong and we must choose the ground we fight on carefully.

  10. Cathy Lynn says:

WeIl, I’d say that those in power in the last four years have entirely lost the ground they were fighting on. So in conclusion, they were neither smart or careful. Gray has certainly done wonders for the Tribe on this basis but i wouldn’t categorize them as positive by any standard.

  11. clay mccormick says:

To Ryan keep up the ood work

As to answers (1) formation of an osage collage, we have a language department and a web site there are all kinds of grants fo schools library’s and the saving of culturally important items. Mix these three things and you have a fully funded online school that can add classes be it cultural or remedial for the onetime cost of course development. Then we have our school and the infastructure to sell classes to business, schools, government or anyone else that needs it.
    (2) A large portion of federal grants are available to states, schools, and tribal governments. If the tribal government developed proposals recruited people and in all way’s to fasilitate and actively agressively
go after grants. It my be possible to bring billions not millions of dollors to osage county.

  13. Sara says:

This is indeed a serious election and if you are campaigning it is your responsibility to get your information to this website. Once your introduce yourself you must accept good or bad feedback. If you live on the Osage reservation you know what has been happening with our Chief and Congress etc. If you live away perhaps, California you don’t really know what the Osage reservation has been enduring. Yes, we need change in our tribe. I think this website will allow an open discussion for all. If we create awareness of what really goes on here on the Osage reservation this will be for the betterment of our people, children and future. We need to elect a new Chief and congress who will achieve greatness for our Nation.

  14. Cathy Lynn says:

Sara, do you actually expect that all of the candidates, even political rivals, are going to send information to this web site when it has been created by the son of one candidate and the nephew of another? If the people behind it are actually nonpartisan as openly represented, it’s their responsibility to post campaign information on every General Election candidate in the running. Expecting the candidates to participate when they had no choice in the creation or introduction of this web site is putting them over a barrel, isn’t it?

  15. Ryan Red Corn says:

Well, I can’t get mad at Cathy, because she offered up a solution. Taking the website down…however, since you deemed the exchange of information concerning the seriousness of this election a priority I assume that it will be ok if I leave the website up. At the time of the first response to this thread I had everyone’s name up that filed. The overwhelming majority of the information on here is information sent by the candidates to OsageNews.org. In some cases I have been able to get candidates to send information directly to me. Most of the missing information is for candidates that just filed, which means they have yet to put out anything at all. No one is culpable for that except the candidate, hence the open call for information from people that we have yet to track down information for, so that the website is as comprehensive as possible as we would all like it to be. If a candidate views this website as biased and does not wish to have their information presented on here, despite my pledge to post their campaign letters verbatim then that is their prerogative. As for being legally liable if you can direct me to a law, either tribal, state, or federal, whose jurisdiction we would fall under that governs internet polls I would happy to abide by it.

After I get finished with this post, I will go back through the OsageNews.org website and look for info to fill in the gaps on this website.

I will continue to do the best job I can at keeping the website as comprehensive and as constructive as possible. All that I ask in return is that we maintain some semblance of civility here.

If anyone knows someone who is not related to any of the candidates AND cares about this election AND knows how to program websites… I think it would be great if we had more Osage related websites disseminating information and opinion (constructively). If anyone feels there is information missing on this site concerning official campaign literature from candidates, either from their official websites or emails, and can provide me that information, as stated before I will post it.

As for telephone numbers of the candidates, I definitely feel like that is a call each candidate must make, out of respect for these individuals personal lives I will refrain from posting that information unless requested or unless its been made available either through that candidates updates or their personal websites. One thing I would like to do is at least get candidates email addresses. If anyone has (NON-TRIBAL) email addresses for candidates please let me know and I will post them in the appropriate spot. Constituent to candidate communication needs to be a priority regardless of political leanings.

  16. Evelyn says:

The 7th and most deadly sin is seeing sin where sin does not exist. Keep up the good work, Mr. RedCorn. The idea that candidates are “over a barrel” by having a free, popular and elegant place to present their views is confounding and contrary to reality.

  17. Cathy Lynn says:

And a young man that disrespectfully addresses the candidates, most of them twice his age, in as flippant and prideful a manner as this, “So if you don’t see your information on here, don’t go pouting to your momma, just send me something over these internets and we will get you taken care of.” Is that confounding and contrary to your reality too? Pride is the 7th Deadly Sin. Though you have it all a bit convoluted, for different reasons, I certainly agree with you on this one.

  18. Ryan Red Corn says:

I suppose my brand of humor is lost in translation, in the context of writing and hearing someone talk. If candidates feel disrespected, I apologize. I.SHPA.HOn O.PAIn NOn.THA KA.SHE, THE.WA.HOIn PA.HAn.LE KA.XA.PI. If we want to discuss my character, or anyone elses further we each can do it in person. Otherwise let’s get back on track here. This thread was posted with the intent of gathering information from candidates.

  19. E Dennis says:

The site creators are doing a great job. Its great to have a site that gives Osages freedom to discuss matters regarding our tribe and people who are running for office. You and the rest of the tribal members have every right to speak your mind and here you can! How great is it that there is medium that exists in this day that allows open communication like this! This is truly historic when you take it all in.
I think its a difficult task to make everyone happy, everyone has an opinion and you’ll always have a few crabbie patties in the lot. But I’m sure they in turn feel they are being helpful. Keeping that positive spirit will put you ahead of the game.
I also believe you are doing a good job relaying opinions based on facts. I myself often feel like an outsider to what goes on within the tribe and staying in the loop is a often a task. Being able to learn a few more things and hear different opinions is refreshing and whether anyone likes it or not…its good for you too. You can never over-educate voters.

  20. clay mccormick says:

To cathy lynn post a web address I will bookmark it check it post on it if allowed and please provide more info about your points.
To ryan once agin thanks for the good work, sorry about the missing g it sticks.
To offset lynn’s compaint and because I would like a free forum too, how about a suggestion box that posts just like this articale to make it open to topics other than the posted articales .

  21. Sara says:

Cathy Lynn, No I don’t expect all candidates to comply with sending their information especially since this is unofficial. I do think they are responsible to getting their information to Ryan. If they do then they should be open for all feedback good or bad. I think this is a great website to allow our Nation awareness and to be able to ask questions to candidates prior to election day on this website or in person. Ryan is able to handle comments directed towards him good or bad. If you feel he is being disrespectful to candidates twice his age that is your opinion. We all have opinions.
