I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to my web site which is www.johnredeagle.com. The Osage Nation government is currently facing major lawsuits and some unnecessary lawsuits, providing services for our Osage people, and looking for business ventures to help diversify our current resources. In the coming days our people will be voting whom they want to lead them in these government endeavors. I believe our government at this time will need leaders who have foresight not only in the culture of the Osages, but also in health care, business economic development, protection of mineral estate and the shareholders who benefit from the minerals of the Osage Nation, experience in the present Osage government, a definite vision for the education for our Osage youths and a focus on health care for all Osages. These are just a few issues that are facing us today. We are in need of a leader with integrity and an ability to work with other elected officials to achieve productive results. I am asking you for your vote for Principal Chief of the Osage Nation and thanking you in advance.

By John Red Eagle, Candidate for Principal Chief

On October 8, 2009 the Tzi-zho Congressional Session ended. Two bills were awaiting signature or veto from the Principal Chief, ONCA 09-44 Time Calculations Act and ONCA 09-50 an act to amend the Anti Alienation Act. These bills were sent to the Executive Office through a communication process and received under the staff attorney’s signature of the Principal Chief’s office. During the temporary absence of the Principal Chief, the Constitution of the Osage Nation states in Article VII, section 7, “the Assistant Principal Chief shall serve in the temporary absence of the Principal Chief and when serving will have all the privileges, duties and powers of that office.” When asked for the bills, I was denied access by the legal counsel of the Osage Nation and told that the constitution could be interpreted in many different ways. This is just another example of how the Assistant Principal Chief’s office has been denied rightful participation in the administration of the Osage Government. Subsequently, as a candidate for the Office of Principal Chief of the Osage Nation, this kind of disrespect will stop when I am elected. Your vote is very important to the Osage Nation.
